Bausch & Lomb Ray-Ban Aviator

£1,500.00

Bausch & Lomb are an eye health products company that started by making monocles in Rochester, New York in 1853. By 1861 their operation had expanded to manufacturing spectacle frames. Bausch & Lomb created Ray-Ban in 1936, working with US Army Air Corps General John Macready to create sunglasses that would reduce the distraction caused to pilots by the intense blue and white hues of the sky and to help prevent fogging up of pilots' goggles. The name Ray-Ban was derived from the ability of their glasses to limit the ingress of ultraviolet and infrared rays of light.
